Since opening in 2012, Barleymash has become a popular destination for those seeking a unique dining and entertainment experience. The restaurant's philosophy revolves around two barroom staples: beer and bourbon. The name itself refers to the grain mixture used in brewing and distilling these beverages. Barleymash offers a wide selection of craft beers from San Diego's micro- and nano-breweries, as well as an extensive bourbon list. The menu features progressive bar fare made from scratch using organic, locally grown, and sustainable ingredients. The venue's design incorporates reclaimed wood from the original foundation, blending a warm, modernist aesthetic with a sense of history. Garage-door style windows open the interior to the Gaslamp Quarter's lively atmosphere. Three large communal tables encourage a sense of community, where guests can share food, drinks, and conversation. Barleymash also has a downstairs lounge called ginger's, offering a sophisticated space for martinis and mingling.
