    From downtown San Diego, take the Route 7 bus towards Balboa Park. The bus departs from Park Bl & B St and arrives at Park Bl & Village Pl. The journey takes approximately 7 minutes and costs $2 - $5. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the museum.

  • Taxi

    A taxi or rideshare from downtown San Diego to the Comic-Con Museum takes about 6 minutes and costs approximately $15 - $19. Taxis are readily available throughout downtown San Diego. Note for visitors arriving at San Diego International Airport (SAN): A taxi from the airport to the Comic-Con Museum will cost around $23 (€23) and take approximately 22 minutes. There is also a $2.98 surcharge for airport taxi pickups.

  • Walking

    From many locations in downtown San Diego, it is possible to walk to the Comic-Con Museum. The walk is approximately 1.9 miles and takes about 35 minutes. Head east towards Balboa Park, and you'll find the museum within the park grounds.

  • Parking

    Parking in Balboa Park is free, but can be challenging during peak times. The closest parking lots to the Museum are the Pan American Plaza Lot and the Federal Lot. Additional parking is available in the Alcazar Lot and the Organ Pavilion Lot. During special events, paid parking may be in effect. Check for traffic alerts before your visit. A future plan to implement paid parking in Balboa Park is under consideration. The Balboa Park Tram is available from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily (9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. from June 2 through October 31). This free tram provides access to Balboa Park from Tram Central at the Inspiration Point Parking Lot (east of Park Blvd. at Presidents Way) to a drop-off station at the Plaza de Panama, a short walk down El Prado from the Museum.

The museum features ever-changing exhibitions that delve into comics, fantasy, science fiction, TV shows, video games, anime, and other related popular arts. Past and current exhibits include tributes to Spider-Man, Betty Boop, Doctor Who, and the art of Mexican Lucha Libre. Visitors can explore the evolution of comic book coloring, the intersection of pop culture and technology, and the legacy of iconic artists. Beyond exhibitions, the museum offers a hands-on STEAM-based Makerspace and educational activities, ensuring there's always something new to discover. The museum hosts movie screenings, talks, book signings, and classes on animation, drawing, and cosplay. Visitors can also create their own Marvel comic book cover at the Marvel Adventure Lab. The Comic-Con Museum is housed in Balboa Park's Federal Building, originally built for the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition. It replaced the former San Diego Hall of Champions museum, with phased openings culminating in 2024.
