Discover more about Kellogg Park

Kellogg Park, nestled along the picturesque La Jolla Shores, is a vibrant and family-friendly park that has been a community treasure since its dedication in 1951. The park owes its existence to Florence Scripps Kellogg, who generously donated the waterfront property in 1946 with the stipulation that it remain free from commercial development and maintain a significant amount of green space. Today, Kellogg Park lives up to that vision, offering a delightful blend of recreational amenities and natural beauty. The park features two large grassy areas perfect for picnics, games, and relaxation. A modern children's playground, complete with ocean-themed play structures, provides endless entertainment for kids. The playground includes slides, swings, monkey bars, and even a small zipline. A bronze sculpture of J.J., an orphaned gray whale rescued by SeaWorld, serves as a popular photo opportunity. Kellogg Park also boasts direct access to La Jolla Shores beach, known for its mile-long stretch of sand and gentle waves. It's a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, and surfing. The park includes convenient amenities such as restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard station. A long, concrete sidewalk with benches separates the park from the beach, offering a pleasant spot for strolling and enjoying the ocean views. In recent years, the park has been enhanced with marine-themed way-finding devices, including a mosaic of the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park, adding an educational element to the visitor experience. The mosaic features over 100 life-size mosaics of creatures found offshore, as well as markers of underwater canyons. Whether you're looking for a place to play, relax, or simply soak up the California sunshine, Kellogg Park offers something for everyone. Its prime location, family-friendly atmosphere, and stunning ocean views make it a must-visit destination in La Jolla.
