To achieve this, Eli hired American architects Ross and Burgren, who blended traditional Chinese architectural elements with Western commercial design. The result was a unique 'Oriental' style, characterized by pagoda-style eaves and strategically placed windows. The Sing Chong Building, along with its neighbor the Sing Fat Building, became a model for Chinese-American architecture throughout the United States. Originally, the Sing Chong Building served as an arts center, showcasing Chinese art and antiques.
