Step back in time at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum, an 18-acre complex located in Micke Grove Regional Park between Lodi and Stockton. The museum reveals the rich heritage of the region, from the Yokuts and Miwok tribes to the development of modern agriculture and the legacy of Charles Weber, the founder of Stockton. The museum features eight exhibition buildings and four historic buildings, including the Weber family cottage (1847) and the Calaveras Schoolhouse (1866). Inside, you'll discover room dioramas depicting Weber family furnishings, a children's activity center, and extensive displays of hand tools and agricultural equipment. The Floyd Locher Tool Collection is the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi. Explore exhibits dedicated to tractors, scrapers, and bulldozers invented and manufactured in San Joaquin County, including machinery from the Holt Manufacturing Company, R. G. LeTourneau, and Samson Iron Works. The Sunshine Trail, an outdoor ecological history exhibit, guides visitors through the diverse ecosystems of the Sierra Nevada, foothills, and San Joaquin Valley. The museum also hosts the San Joaquin County Archives, with over 500,000 documents and photos available for public research. Special events throughout the year celebrate local culture with festivals and themed decorations.
