BART
From San Leandro BART Station, purchase a ticket to the Embarcadero Station in San Francisco. Board a train heading towards the city. After about 30 minutes, disembark at the Embarcadero Station. From there, transfer to the Muni bus or streetcar and take the F-Market & Wharves line towards Fisherman's Wharf. Get off at the Powell & Beach stop. From there, walk uphill on Beach Street, turn left on Taylor Street, and then right onto Filbert Street. Continue walking until you reach 202 Filbert St, which is the entrance to the Filbert Steps.
Bus
Start at the San Leandro Transit Center and catch the AC Transit bus line 97 towards Bay Fair BART Station. Get off at Bay Fair BART Station and transfer to the BART train to San Francisco. Ride to Montgomery St. Station. Once you arrive, exit and head to the Montgomery St. & Sutter St. bus stop. From there, catch the Muni bus line 39 towards the Bayview-Hunters Point. Get off at the stop at Filbert St. and walk a short distance to 202 Filbert St for the Filbert Steps.
Walking
If you are already in San Leandro, locate the nearest bus stop for the AC Transit line 40 or 46. Board the bus heading towards the Bay Fair BART Station. Once you arrive at the Bay Fair Station, board a BART train to San Francisco. You may also consider taking a train directly to Montgomery St. Station. After disembarking, walk towards the Embarcadero and follow the street signs to Fisherman's Wharf. From there, walk uphill to Filbert Street, where you will find the Filbert Steps at 202 Filbert St.
