Discover more about Marina Green

Marina Green is a beloved San Francisco park, stretching 74 acres along the city's northern waterfront. Situated between Fort Mason and the Presidio, it offers unparalleled views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, and Alcatraz. Originally a tidal marsh, the area was dramatically changed when it became a dumping ground for rubble after the 1906 earthquake. In 1915, it was transformed again to host the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal and San Francisco's resilience. The Palace of Fine Arts is a nearby remnant of this exposition. Today, Marina Green is a lively destination for locals and tourists alike. Its wide pathways are popular with cyclists, runners, and dog walkers. Fitness stations dot the perimeter, and the adjacent marina houses prestigious yacht clubs. The park also hosts numerous events, including kite festivals and the annual Fleet Week air show. Visitors can enjoy picnics, kite flying, and simply relaxing on the grass while taking in the scenery. The San Francisco Bay Trail runs through Marina Green, making it a key stop for exploring the waterfront.
