Public Transport
From downtown San Francisco, several Muni bus lines (such as the 8, 12, 27, 30, 45) will take you to SoMa. Alternatively, you can take the Muni Metro lines (J, K, L, M, N, T) or BART to the Powell Street or Montgomery Street stations, which are within walking distance of many SoMa attractions. A single Muni ride costs $3.00, or $2.85 if you use a Clipper card or the MuniMobile app. A day pass, good for unlimited rides on Muni buses, trains, and streetcars, is available for $5.70 via the MuniMobile app.
Walking
From the Embarcadero or Market Street, SoMa is easily accessible on foot. Simply walk south of Market Street. The walk from the Ferry Building to the northern edge of SoMa is approximately 15-20 minutes. Be aware that SoMa is a large district, so walking times to specific destinations within SoMa can vary.
Ride Share
Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are readily available throughout San Francisco. A ride from Union Square to the Moscone Center in SoMa typically costs between $15 and $25, depending on traffic and demand. Keep in mind that prices may surge during peak hours or special events.
Driving
If driving, be aware that parking in SoMa can be challenging and expensive. Several parking garages are available, such as the SoMa Square Garage, with hourly rates ranging from $10-$40. Street parking is also available but may be limited and subject to time restrictions. Monthly parking options are available, ranging from $65 to $650. Consider using parking apps like SpotHero or ParkChirp to find and reserve parking in advance.
