Public Transport
Union Square is a major transportation hub, easily accessible via BART and Muni. The Powell BART Station and the Union Square/Market Street Station connect to various Muni lines. A single ride on Muni is good for 90 minutes of travel and costs $3. Cable car fares are $6 each way for adults.
Walking
Union Square is easily walkable from many downtown locations. From the Powell Street BART station, it's a short walk north along Powell Street. Hallidie Plaza also provides access.
Taxi/Ride-share
Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available in San Francisco. A short taxi ride from nearby locations like the Ferry Building or Fisherman's Wharf to Union Square typically costs $10-$20, depending on traffic and distance.
Driving
Several parking garages are located near Union Square. Rates range from $1 to $9 per hour and $34 to $50 for a 24-hour period. The Union Square Garage offers early bird rates for entries between 5:00 am and 9:30 am, with a flat rate of $20 if out by midnight. Be aware that street parking is limited.
