Getting There

• Bus

  From San Lorenzo, walk to the nearest bus stop located at the intersection of Hesperian Blvd and Lewelling Blvd. Take the AC Transit bus line 86 towards San Francisco. Stay on the bus for approximately 40 minutes until you reach the 'Transbay Terminal' stop in San Francisco. Once you disembark, follow signs to the Market Street exit. From there, you can either walk or take a short ride on Muni buses or streetcars to reach Union Square, which is about a 10-minute walk.

• BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)

  Head to the nearest BART station, which is the Hayward BART station. You can walk or take a local bus to the station. Once at Hayward BART, purchase a ticket to the 'Embarcadero' station in San Francisco. The ride will take approximately 40 minutes. Upon arriving at Embarcadero, transfer to the Muni Metro (T line) towards Chinatown and get off at the 'Powell St.' stop, which is just a short walk from Union Square.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a local bike-sharing service in San Lorenzo. Start by heading west on Lewelling Blvd towards Hesperian Blvd, then take Hesperian Blvd north until you reach the Bay Trail. Follow the Bay Trail northwards along the shoreline, which will take you through Alameda and onto the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Once you cross into San Francisco, follow signs to the downtown area and Union Square, which is about 3 miles from the bridge exit.

• Walking

  For the adventurous, you can walk from San Lorenzo to Union Square, though it is a long trek of about 12 miles. Start by heading to Hesperian Blvd and follow it north until you reach the San Leandro BART station. From there, you can either take BART to downtown San Francisco or continue on foot. If walking, follow San Leandro Blvd to East 14th St. and continue towards the Oakland area before crossing the bridge into San Francisco.
