Getting There

  • Walking

    From Inspiration Point parking lot, find the trailhead on the right side of the vista point. A wooden stairway leads down, where you can turn left onto the Ecology Trail. Follow the trail through redwood groves and grasslands.

  • Public Transport

    Take the free Presidio Go Shuttle's South Hills Route to Inspiration Point. From downtown San Francisco, take the Downtown Route to the Presidio Transit Center and transfer to the South Hills Route. Check the Presidio Go Shuttle schedule for operating hours. The Presidio Go Shuttle is free.

  • Driving

    From Highway 101, follow signs to the Presidio. Enter the Presidio and follow Arguello Boulevard to Inspiration Point. Parking is available at the Inspiration Point parking lot. Parking is paid and regulated every day. Parking costs between $2.50 to $3 per hour or $12.50 to $15 per day. Payment can be made via the PayByPhone app or at on-site pay stations.
