From downtown San Mateo, head to the nearest bus stop on El Camino Real. Catch the SamTrans bus route 110 towards Pacifica. The bus will take you through various neighborhoods, and you will want to get off at the Pacifica Avenue & Highway 1 stop. From there, it’s a short walk to Pacifica State Beach. Head south on Highway 1 for about 0.5 miles until you reach the beach entrance.

Take the Caltrain from San Mateo Station towards San Francisco. Get off at the Millbrae Station and transfer to the SamTrans bus route 110 towards Pacifica. Ride until you reach the Pacifica Avenue & Highway 1 stop. From there, walk south on Highway 1 for about 0.5 miles to reach Pacifica State Beach.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop in San Mateo. Start by heading to the Bay Trail, which will take you along the water. Follow the trail towards Pacifica. If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, you can start from downtown San Mateo and head towards the Bay Trail. It’s a long walk, approximately 10 miles, and will take around 3-4 hours. Follow the Bay Trail south until you reach Pacifica. Once in Pacifica, head to Highway 1 and walk south for about 0.5 miles to reach Pacifica State Beach.
