    From Santa Clara, head to the nearest VTA Light Rail station, which is the Santa Clara station. Take the VTA Light Rail towards Alum Rock. Disembark at the San Jose Diridon station. From there, transfer to the Santa Cruz Metro bus service. Board the Route 17 bus towards Santa Cruz. You will need to get off at the stop for Pescadero. After disembarking, walk approximately 1.5 miles northwest along Cloverdale Road to reach Butano State Park.

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Santa Clara. Start by traveling west on El Camino Real. Continue until you reach CA-85 and take the bike path that leads to the south. Follow the signs for Pescadero. It's roughly a 20-mile ride; ensure you have enough water and snacks for the journey.
