Getting There

Public Transit
From central Santa Clara, walk to the Santa Clara Transit Center. Once there, take the VTA Light Rail Line towards Winchester. After approximately 15 minutes, transfer at the Mountain View Station to the Caltrain service. Board a Caltrain going south towards Gilroy. Get off at the Capitola Station. From the Capitola Station, you can either walk about 15 minutes to Capitola State Beach or take a local bus that stops near the beach.

Bicycle Rental
If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle from one of the bike rental shops in Santa Clara. Head south on El Camino Real, then follow the signs for the Bay Trail which leads directly to the coast. This scenic route will take you through beautiful landscapes and parks. Expect the ride to take around 1 hour to reach Capitola State Beach.

If you prefer to walk, start from the Santa Clara Convention Center. Head south on Great America Parkway, then take a right on El Camino Real. Continue walking south until you reach the intersection of Highway 1. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, then follow the signs to Capitola State Beach. This will be a long walk, approximately 2 hours, but you’ll enjoy the sights along the way.
