Google Android Statues: A Piece of Tech History
A nostalgic tech landmark showcasing the evolution of the Android operating system through dessert-themed statues. Temporarily removed for repairs and relocation.
The Google Android Statues, formerly located at 1981 Landings Dr in Mountain View, were a popular attraction showcasing the evolution of Google's Android operating system. Each statue represented a different version of Android, named after sweet treats like Cupcake, Donut, Jelly Bean, KitKat, and Tiramisu. These colorful mascots provided a unique glimpse into Google's playful corporate culture and innovative spirit. Visitors enjoyed taking photos with the statues, which served as a quirky landmark within the Google campus. The tradition of creating these statues ended in 2019 with Android 10, though virtual 3D models continue to be made. In 2022, the statues were removed from the square due to redevelopment plans. Google has stated that the statues are being repaired and will be relocated to new locations around the Mountain View campus. While the original Android Statues Square is no longer accessible, fans can anticipate their eventual return in a new setting.
