To reach Backbone Trail from downtown Santa Monica, walk to the Santa Monica Civic Center. From there, catch the Big Blue Bus Route 8 heading towards the Westside Pavilion. Stay on the bus for about 20 minutes and get off at the stop near the intersection of Sunset Blvd and Pacific Coast Hwy. After disembarking, walk east on Sunset Blvd, then turn right onto Pacific Coast Hwy. Continue walking until you see the entrance to Backbone Trail on your left.
