Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Mount Shasta from any location in Shasta Cascade. Use Interstate 5 (I-5) North or South to exit 738 for Mt. Shasta. Follow Mt. Shasta Boulevard to the town center. Continue on 5th Street, which will turn into Everitt Memorial Highway. This road will take you into the Mount Shasta Wilderness area. Make sure to check road conditions especially in winter, as they can affect accessibility.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a Greyhound bus or Amtrak train to the nearest major station in Dunsmuir or Mt. Shasta City. From there, you will need to arrange for a local taxi service or rideshare (like Uber or Lyft) to reach the Mount Shasta Wilderness. Be sure to check bus and train schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.

• Hiking or Biking

  Once you reach the Mount Shasta area, if you wish to explore the wilderness further, consider parking at a designated area and then hiking or biking. Popular trailheads are located near the Everitt Memorial Highway. Be prepared with a map of the trails, as well as the necessary gear for hiking or biking. Always check trail conditions and regulations before heading out.
