Ascension Rock is located off Everitt Memorial Highway, north of Mount Shasta City. From I-5, take exit 738 for Central Mt. Shasta. Head east on Lake Street, which turns into Everitt Memorial Highway. Continue for several miles. The rock is located near a pullout on the side of the road. Look for a small, unmarked parking area. Be mindful of traffic when parking and crossing the road. The exact location is marked on some online maps, so using a GPS-enabled device can be helpful for pinpointing the site.

If you are already on Everitt Memorial Highway, accessing Ascension Rock by foot is possible. Be aware that Everitt Memorial Highway can have vehicle traffic, so exercise caution and walk on the shoulder where available. From Mount Shasta City, the walk is considerable (several miles), so ensure you are prepared for a longer trek with appropriate footwear, water, and sun protection. There are no sidewalks for much of the route.
