Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto I-10 E from your location in Southern California. Follow I-10 E for approximately 40 miles. Take exit 77 for CA-30 toward San Bernardino. Continue on CA-30, which will merge into I-210 N. After about 12 miles, take exit 37 for CA-330 N toward Running Springs/Big Bear Lake. Follow CA-330 N for about 10 miles until it merges with CA-18. Continue on CA-18 until you reach the Big Bear area. Look for signs directing you to San Bernardino National Forest. Be prepared for potential parking fees at the forest entrance.

• Public Transportation

  To reach San Bernardino National Forest using public transportation, start by taking Metrolink from your nearest station to Los Angeles Union Station. From Los Angeles, take the Metrolink San Bernardino Line towards San Bernardino. Once you arrive at the San Bernardino Metrolink station, transfer to an Omnitrans bus route (Route 1 or 2) that takes you to the mountain communities including Big Bear. Note that the bus service may not run frequently, so check the schedule ahead of time. Once you arrive in Big Bear, you may need to use a taxi or rideshare service to reach specific areas within San Bernardino National Forest.
