Walking
From the Venice Beach Boardwalk, head east on Windward Avenue until you reach Pacific Avenue. Turn left onto Pacific Avenue and continue heading north for about 0.5 miles. Look for signs that direct you towards the Backbone Trail. The trailhead is near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Main Street.
Biking
If you have a bike, start at Venice Beach and follow the bike path that runs along the beach. Continue north until you reach the Santa Monica Pier. From there, dismount and head east along Colorado Avenue. Turn left onto Main Street, and continue until you reach the Backbone Trail entrance at the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Avenue.
Public Transport
Take the Metro Bus 1 from Venice Beach towards Santa Monica. Get off at the stop at Main Street and Ocean Park Boulevard. From there, walk north on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Pacific Avenue. The Backbone Trailhead will be nearby. Follow the trail signs to find the entrance.
