Discover more about Malibu Pier

Malibu Pier, a quintessential Southern California landmark, stands as a testament to the area's rich history and vibrant coastal culture. Originally built in 1905 by Frederick Hastings Rindge to support his Malibu Rancho, the pier facilitated the transport of agricultural goods and building materials. In 1934, the pier opened to the public, offering pier and charter fishing. It quickly became a popular destination, attracting fishermen and tourists alike. During World War II, the pier served as a U.S. Coast Guard lookout station. Storms caused significant damage over the years, but the pier was rebuilt and expanded, becoming the iconic structure we know today. Today, Malibu Pier is a hub of activity, offering a variety of experiences. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Surfrider Beach, famous for its three-point break. Fishing is a popular pastime, and the pier offers rod rentals and bait for those looking to reel in a catch. The pier is also home to two restaurants operated by Malibu Farm, offering fresh, organic, and local cuisine. Malibu Farm Pier Cafe, located at the end of the pier, provides counter service, while Malibu Farm Restaurant, at the entrance, offers a full-service dining experience. Visitors can also find shops selling Malibu-branded merchandise and souvenirs.
