Discover more about Venice Walk Street

The Venice Walk Streets offer a serene escape from the lively atmosphere of Venice Beach. These pedestrian-only enclaves, consisting of Crescent Place, Amoroso Place, Marco Place, and Nowita Place, provide a unique glimpse into Abbot Kinney's original vision for a 'Venice of America'. Kinney, a wealthy tobacco magnate, sought to recreate the romantic ambiance of Venice, Italy, with a network of canals and pedestrian walkways. Originally, the homes along the Walk Streets were modest bungalows, affordable for entertainers and workers at the Venice Pier. In the 1920s, these streets fostered a vibrant, close-knit community. Today, the Walk Streets have evolved into some of the most desirable and expensive real estate in Los Angeles. Despite the increased affluence, the streets have managed to retain their unique charm. The absence of cars creates a peaceful atmosphere, encouraging visitors to slow down and appreciate the surroundings. Elaborate gardens spill onto the walkways, showcasing diverse plants and flowers. While many original bungalows remain, they now stand alongside modern architectural designs, reflecting the area's evolution. Walking through the shaded, tree-lined paths feels like stepping into another era, offering a tranquil retreat from the crowded boardwalk.
