Public Transit
To reach Muir Beach from Walnut Creek, start by walking to the Walnut Creek BART station located at 200 Ygnacio Valley Road. Take the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train towards San Francisco/Daly City. After approximately 25 minutes, get off at the Embarcadero station. Once you exit the station, transfer to the Golden Gate Transit bus #92 towards Marin City. Ride the bus for about 45 minutes, and disembark at the 'Muir Beach' stop. From the bus stop, Muir Beach is a short 10-minute walk down Muir Beach Road to the beach entrance.
Walking
If you are staying near downtown Walnut Creek, you can start your journey by walking to the Walnut Creek BART station at 200 Ygnacio Valley Road. Once there, follow the public transit instructions to get to Muir Beach as mentioned above. Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous and want to explore the area, take a scenic walk through downtown Walnut Creek towards the nearby trails leading to Mount Diablo State Park. However, this will add significant time and distance to your trip, and public transit is highly recommended.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in downtown Walnut Creek. Start by heading west on Ygnacio Valley Road towards the bike path that leads to the Iron Horse Regional Trail. Follow the trail north until it connects to the road that leads towards Muir Beach. The distance is approximately 30 miles, so ensure you are prepared for a longer ride. The journey will take you about 2-3 hours, depending on your cycling speed and stops along the way.
