Car
If you are driving to El Capitan Viewpoint from Yosemite Valley, take Southside Drive (Yosemite Village) and head west toward the Wawona Road junction. Continue on CA-41 S, then merge onto CA-140 W. Follow the signs for El Capitan Viewpoint along CA-120 E. The viewpoint is located on the north side of the road, with a designated parking area. Parking is free, but be aware that spaces can fill up quickly during peak season.
Public Transportation
To reach El Capitan Viewpoint via public transportation, use the Yosemite Valley Shuttle. Board the shuttle at any major stop in Yosemite Valley. You need to take the shuttle to the stop at El Capitan. Once you arrive at the El Capitan stop, you will need to walk a short distance to reach the viewpoint. Be mindful of shuttle schedules, as they can vary. The shuttle is free to use within the park.
Walking/Hiking
If you are near El Capitan Viewpoint and prefer walking, you can access the viewpoint via several trails in the area. From the El Capitan picnic area, follow the marked trails that lead to the viewpoint. The walk is relatively easy and offers stunning views of the rock face. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and carry water, especially during warmer months.
