Discover more about Knai Bang Chatt Resort in Kep

Knai Bang Chatt is a unique resort located in Kep, Cambodia, offering a tranquil escape with a touch of history and luxury. The resort is comprised of three exquisitely restored coastal villas dating back to the 1960s, designed by protégés of the renowned Khmer architect Vann Molyvann. These villas showcase a blend of modern Art Deco design with traditional Khmer characteristics, reflecting the cultural boom of post-independence Cambodia. Kep itself was once a popular seaside destination for the French elite and wealthy Cambodians, earning it the nickname "the St. Tropez of Southeast Asia". However, the Cambodian civil war and the Khmer Rouge regime left the area deserted, and the villas were abandoned around 1970. In 2003, two Belgian travelers discovered the villas and began the process of restoring them to their former glory, creating Knai Bang Chatt. The resort features 18 individually decorated rooms, furnished with Cambodian antiques and offering views of the garden or sea. Guests can relax by the saltwater infinity pool, enjoy Khmer and Western cuisine at the Strand restaurant, or explore the nearby Kep National Park and Crab Market. Knai Bang Chatt also offers activities such as yoga, spa treatments, sailing, and excursions to local sites. It's a place to reconnect with nature, experience Cambodian culture, and enjoy a relaxing getaway.
