From Nkongsamba, the most convenient way to reach Ekom Nkam Waterfalls is by taxi. Negotiate a round-trip fare with a driver to take you to the falls, wait for you, and return you to Nkongsamba. The journey is approximately 20 km and includes driving north on the N5 until Melong II, where you'll see a sign for Ekom Waterfalls, then turning right onto an unpaved road. Expect to pay around 10,000 XAF ($17 USD) for a 2-3 hour round trip. Negotiate the price beforehand.
Motorbike

Another option from Nkongsamba is to hire a motorbike taxi (benskin). This is a cheaper alternative, costing around 5,000 XAF ($9 USD) for a round trip. The route is the same as with a regular taxi: north on the N5 to Melong II, then turn right towards the falls. Ensure to negotiate the price before starting the journey.

Ekom Nkam Waterfalls, located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Nkongsamba, is one of Cameroon's most impressive natural attractions. The name Ekom Nkam comes from the village name Ekom and the Nkam River, which feeds the falls.The Ekom Nkam Waterfalls are actually twin falls, split by a rock formation at the top. One fall, known as the 'male,' flows continuously throughout the year, while the other, called the 'female,' is primarily fed during the rainy season. The falls are particularly powerful and visually stunning during the rainy season, which runs from March to October. The area surrounding the falls is rich in flora and fauna, offering excellent opportunities for birdwatching and hiking.Historically, the falls are significant to the Bakoko people and are viewed as a sacred site interwoven with their beliefs and traditions. In 1982, scenes from the movie 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan' were filmed here, adding to the site's cultural significance and attracting tourists.
