From Tombel or Bangem, hire a local taxi or motorbike taxi to reach specific trailheads or villages within the mountains. Be prepared for a journey of 4-5 hours from major cities to the mountain region. The cost for the bus or taxi-brousse from Douala or Yaoundé to Tombel/Bangem ranges from XAF 3,000 to XAF 5,000. Hiring a taxi or motorbike taxi from Tombel/Bangem to the mountains will cost approximately XAF 1,000 to XAF 2,000.

From Douala, drive towards Nkongsamba and then head towards Tombel or Bangem. Roads can be challenging, especially during the rainy season, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Once in Tombel or Bangem, follow local roads to reach specific areas within the Bakossi Mountains. Parking is generally available in villages, but it's advisable to inquire locally about secure parking. The drive from Douala to Tombel/Bangem is approximately 3-4 hours. Fuel costs for the journey will vary depending on the vehicle but expect to pay around XAF 5,000 to XAF 8,000 for a round trip. Tolls are minimal on this route.
