Road
From Bamenda, take the road towards Kumbo. At Kumbo, follow signs to Oku. Be prepared for unpaved roads and allow ample travel time. Hiring a local driver with a 4x4 vehicle is recommended due to the road conditions. Negotiate the price beforehand.
Hiking
From the village of Elak-Oku, arrange for a local guide to hike to the summit of Mount Oku and Lake Oku. The hike is challenging and requires a good level of fitness. The trail passes through the Kilum-Ijim Forest, offering opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. The hike to the summit and back can take a full day, so start early and bring plenty of water and snacks. A porter can be hired to carry supplies.
