Car
If you are driving from Bafoussam, take the N5 road towards Dschang. Continue on N5 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction for Mbu-Baforchu. Turn right onto the road leading to Mbu-Baforchu. After approximately 15 kilometers, you will reach the village. From Mbu-Baforchu center, follow local signs or ask for directions to Shum Laka, which is located at V35H+956. Be prepared for some unpaved roads as you approach the archaeological site.
Public Transportation
Begin your journey by taking a shared taxi or bus from Bafoussam to Mbu. The fare is approximately 1,500 CFA francs and the trip takes around 1 hour. Once you arrive in Mbu, hire a motorcycle taxi (commonly known as 'benskin') to take you to Shum Laka. The motorcycle taxi fare should be around 500 CFA francs. Ensure you communicate your destination clearly to the driver by mentioning 'Shum Laka' or showing them the location coordinates (V35H+956).
Walking
If you are staying in Mbu-Baforchu, you can walk to Shum Laka, which is about 3 kilometers from the village center. Head towards the northeast direction on the main road, then look for local signs or ask residents for guidance to the archaeological site. The walk should take about 30-40 minutes.
