Walking
From the Mount Cameroon National Park entrance, the hike to Hut 2 typically takes 3-4 hours, depending on fitness levels. The trail is well-marked, but it's advisable to hire a local guide. Ensure you have sufficient water, snacks, and a walking stick. The elevation gain is significant, so prepare for a moderate to strenuous hike.
Public Transport
From Douala, take a bus or shared taxi to Buea, which takes approximately 2 hours. From Buea, hire a taxi to the Mount Cameroon National Park entrance; negotiate the fare beforehand. From the park entrance, it's a 3-4 hour hike to Hut 2. Park entry fees range from 1,000 to 2,000 CFA francs.
Car
From Douala, take the N3 towards Buea, a journey of about 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow signs to Mount Cameroon National Park. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for the final leg to the park entrance due to the rugged terrain. Park at the designated area near the entrance, and then hike to Hut 2 (3-4 hours).
