Garbabi also functioned as a small port for the transportation of slaves from Northern Cameroon and parts of British-controlled territory. Clashes with French, English, and Belgian forces eventually led to the abandonment of the base.Today, visitors can explore the remnants of the German military base, though time and local residents have taken their toll on the structure. Despite the wear, the remaining red-burnt bricks offer a glimpse into the past.
