Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From Bamenda, take a bus heading towards Wum. These buses typically depart every hour, and the fare is around 1,500 CFA. Once in Wum, take a motorcycle taxi ('benskin') to Oku village for approximately 1,000 CFA. From Oku village, the hiking trail to Mount Oku begins.

  • Car

    From Bamenda, drive north on the N6 highway towards Wum. After about 25 km, turn left towards Oku. Continue on this road for approximately 15 km until you reach Oku village. Be prepared for potentially rough road conditions. Once in Oku, you can start the hike to Mount Oku from the village.

This stratovolcano is the second-highest mountain in mainland Central Africa and the highest in the Western High Plateau of Cameroon.
