Public Transport
To reach the Nyong River via public transportation, take a bush taxi from Ebolowa to Akom II. The fare is typically around 1,500 CFA francs. Once in Akom II, walk or hire a motorcycle taxi to the river; negotiate the motorcycle taxi fare, which should be around 1,000 CFA francs. Public transport schedules may vary, so start early.
Walking
If nearby, trails lead from the main roads to the river banks. These trails can be rugged, so wear appropriate footwear. Walking from Akom II to the river takes about 30 minutes. Bring a map or a local guide due to limited signage.
Car
If driving from Ebolowa, take the N3 highway towards Yaoundé. After about 30 kilometers, reach Akom II. Continue for about 15 kilometers until you see signs for the Nyong River on your left. A small dirt road leading to the river may require a 4x4 vehicle, especially during the rainy season. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as gas stations are limited nearby.
