Doual'art: A Hub for Contemporary African Art

Doual'art is more than just a museum; it's a dynamic cultural center and experimental laboratory focused on the intersection of art and urban life in African cities. Founded in 1991 by Princess Marilyn Douala Bell and Didier Schaub, the center supports artists whose work engages with urban issues, offering a platform for creative expression and cultural dialogue.Located on Place du Gouvernement in the Bonanjo neighborhood, Doual'art hosts an average of eight exhibitions annually, showcasing contemporary artists from Cameroon and around the world. These exhibitions encompass various mediums, including painting, sculpture, and multimedia installations, reflecting the diversity of African culture and addressing societal themes. Beyond its gallery space, Doual'art extends its reach into the public sphere, inviting artists to create site-specific installations and interventions throughout the city.
