The Entrée Palais des Congrès marks the gateway to the Palais des Congrès de Yaoundé, a significant conference and events center in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Opened on May 12, 1982, the Palais des Congrès was constructed through cooperation between China and Cameroon and has since become a landmark. Located atop Nkol-Nyada hill, the Palais des Congrès provides a panoramic view of Yaoundé, often called the city of seven hills. The building spans approximately 18 hectares, including 27,000 m² of green space and 7,169 m² of rooms. The center includes multiple halls, with capacities ranging from 25 to 2,000 seats, accommodating various events such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and cultural exhibitions. The Palais is divided into three pavilions, featuring a main hall with 1,500 seats, a tripartite hall with 400 seats, and several smaller rooms. The Palais des Congrès has played a vital role in Cameroon's political and diplomatic history. It has hosted significant events such as the Tripartite of October 30, 1991, and the Grand National Dialogue in 2019. The center also hosts institutions of the Republic, including the headquarters of the Senate. In 2015, the Palais underwent a renovation project costing an estimated 11 billion CFA francs, which included upgrades to civil engineering, water supply, roof sealing, and modernization of facades. Today, the Palais des Congrès continues to host a variety of events, including conferences, seminars, concerts, and weddings. It remains a key venue for both national and international gatherings in Yaoundé.
