Getting There

• Car

  From anywhere in the Acadian Peninsula, head towards Route 1 (Trans-Canada Highway). Follow Route 1 to the junction with Route 134 near Bathurst. Take Route 134 south towards Tracadie-Sheila. Continue on Route 134 until you reach Route 11. Merge onto Route 11 south, which will take you towards Miramichi. Once you reach the city of Miramichi, switch to Route 8 south and follow it until you reach the town of Newcastle. From Newcastle, take Route 11 again heading south, which will lead you towards the eastern shore of New Brunswick. Continue to follow Route 11 until you see signs for the Acadian Peninsula and the town of Caraquet. Follow the signs indicating the route to Thunder Hole, which is located in Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a bus from your location in Acadian Peninsula to Bathurst. From Bathurst, transfer to a bus headed to Moncton. In Moncton, you will need to transfer to a bus that goes directly to Bar Harbor, Maine. This will require some planning as schedules can vary. Once you arrive in Bar Harbor, you can either walk or take a local taxi service to Thunder Hole. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as the frequency of buses may not be daily. Expect to pay for each segment of your bus journey, which can vary in price depending on the service.

  For a more direct route, consider using a taxi or rideshare service from your accommodation in the Acadian Peninsula directly to Thunder Hole.
