Getting There

  • Driving

    Point Amour Lighthouse is located off Route 510, north of Forteau. From Route 510, turn onto L'Anse Amour Branch Road and continue for approximately 4.8 km to reach the lighthouse. Free parking is available in a lot adjacent to the site.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Point Amour using public transport, take the ferry from St. Barbe, Newfoundland, to Blanc-Sablon, Quebec. From Blanc-Sablon, travel east on Route 510 (Expedition 51°). Then, turn onto L'Anse Amour Branch Road and continue for approximately 4.8 km to reach the lighthouse. Ferry costs vary, check Labrador Marine for current fares.

The HMS Raleigh, a British warship, ran aground near the lighthouse in 1922. Visit the L'Anse Amour Burial Mound National Historic Site, the oldest known funeral monument in North America. Point Amour is located near Route 510, between the communities of Forteau and L'Anse au Loup.
