Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from St. John's, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador. Take the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) heading northwest. Continue on Route 1 for approximately 200 kilometers until you reach the exit for Route 430 towards the Northern Peninsula. Follow Route 430 until you reach the town of Englee. Once in Englee, turn onto Unnamed Road following local signage for Barr'd Island Trail. The trailhead is located approximately 5 kilometers along this road.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, begin your journey by taking a bus from St. John's to Corner Brook. From Corner Brook, you will need to transfer to a regional bus service that heads towards Englee. Ensure you check the schedule in advance as services may not be frequent. Upon arriving in Englee, you can either walk or arrange a taxi to reach Unnamed Road. The trailhead is about 5 kilometers from the center of Englee.

• Ferry

  If you are visiting from other parts of Newfoundland, you may consider taking a ferry to the Northern Peninsula. Ferries operate from various locations including the island of Newfoundland to the mainland. After arriving at the mainland, you will need to drive or take a bus to Englee, following the directions provided above to reach Barr'd Island Trail.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling is an option! If you are in St. John's, cycle along Route 1 towards Corner Brook. This route is scenic but be prepared for some challenging stretches. Once in Corner Brook, follow the same public transportation guidance to Englee. Ensure your bicycle is in good condition for the long journey and consider packing supplies for repairs.
