Getting There

Walking
From the center of Iqaluit, head east on Federal Road towards the waterfront. Continue straight until you reach the Nunavut Legislative Assembly. From there, take a left onto Apex Road. Follow Apex Road until you reach the Apex community. Once you’re in Apex, look for the signs leading to Qaummaarviit Territorial Park. The park is located on the nearby island, and you will need to walk to the ferry terminal located at Apex. Check the ferry schedule to cross to the park; it typically operates in the summer months. Once on the island, follow the marked trails to reach the park.

Start at the Iqaluit Community Arena and bike east towards Federal Road. Continue on Federal Road until you reach the Apex Road intersection. Turn left onto Apex Road and bike towards Apex village. Look for the ferry terminal signs as you approach Apex. Park your bike at the terminal and wait for the ferry to take you to Qaummaarviit Territorial Park. Once you arrive on the island, follow the designated bike trails within the park.

To hike to Qaummaarviit Territorial Park, begin at the Iqaluit airport. Follow the path leading to the edge of town and then take the coastal trail heading east. This trail will take you towards Apex. Once you reach Apex, look for the ferry terminal to cross over to the park. The hike to the terminal will take about 45 minutes. After crossing to the island by ferry, you can explore the park on foot, following the marked hiking trails.
