Car
From any location in Lanaudière, get onto Autoroute 25 South towards Montreal. Continue on Autoroute 25, then take the exit towards Autoroute 720 West. Follow the signs for 'Centre Ville' and merge onto Autoroute 720. Continue until you reach the exit for 'Notre-Dame Street'. Merge onto Notre-Dame Street, and you will find access to the Lachine Canal area. There are several parking lots along the canal, but be prepared to pay for parking, typically around CAD 2 to CAD 5 per hour.
Public Transportation
If you prefer to use public transportation, start by taking a bus from your location in Lanaudière to the nearest train station. The best option is to take a bus to the 'Candiac' or 'Delson' train stations. From there, take the AMT (Montreal's commuter train service) towards Montreal. Get off at the 'Lucien L'Allier' station. Once you arrive, transfer to the Metro Orange Line and travel towards Côte-Vertu. Get off at the 'Bonaventure' station. From here, you can walk approximately 15 minutes to the Lachine Canal. Note that train and Metro fares will vary, typically around CAD 4.50 for a single fare.
Bike
For a more active approach, consider biking to the Lachine Canal. If you're starting in Lanaudière, you can bike along the Route Verte (Green Route) which connects various regions in Quebec. Head towards Montreal and follow the designated bike paths to reach the canal. Once you arrive, there are bike rental facilities available nearby if you need. Keep in mind that you may want to bring your own bike lock for security. There are no additional costs if you already have a bike.
