Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Shelburne, Nova Scotia. From Halifax, take Highway 103 south for about 2.5 hours. Once you reach the junction near Exit 26, take Exit 26 towards Shelburne. Continue on NS-3, following signs for Shelburne. As you approach Shelburne, follow the local road signs to Sandy Point Lighthouse. Once in Shelburne, turn onto Sandy Point Rd. The lighthouse is located at Sandy Point Rd, Shelburne, NS B0T 1W0. There is no entry fee or parking fee to visit the lighthouse.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Halifax to Shelburne. Look for Maritime Bus services that operate routes between Halifax and Shelburne. The journey takes approximately 4 hours. Once you arrive at the Shelburne bus terminal, you will need to take a taxi or arrange for a rideshare service to Sandy Point Lighthouse, which is about a 20-minute drive from the terminal. Expect taxi fares to be around CAD 30-40 for the trip.

• Walking

  If you are in Shelburne and prefer to walk, you can take a scenic route to Sandy Point Lighthouse. From the town center, head southwest along Water St until you reach the waterfront. Follow the waterfront path as it curves around the bay. Continue on to Sandy Point Rd. The walk is approximately 4 miles and can take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. This route provides beautiful views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape.
