In 1995, it hosted the Unity Rally, a massive political gathering where Canadians from across the country celebrated a united Canada during the Quebec independence referendum. The square is bordered by René Lévesque Boulevard to the North, Peel Street to the East, De la Cathédrale to the West, and De la Gauchetière Street to the South.Today, Place du Canada continues to be a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
