History and Founding

Ferox by Fabian Reis began as a virtual winery in 2015, sourcing fruit from Niagara-on-the-Lake's premier sites. In 2018, founders Fabian and Stephanie Reis, drawing from seven generations of winemaking in Germany's Baden-Baden region, acquired their 25-acre property on Concession Road 4. By 2019, they transformed it into a full estate operation, focusing on meticulously managed vineyards to produce wines of unparalleled quality. Fabian's heritage, including ties to Konzelmann Estate Winery, informs their precise, hands-on approach from harvest to bottling.

Vineyard and Winemaking Philosophy

Nestled in Niagara-on-the-Lake's Four Mile Creek sub-appellation, Ferox's vineyards thrive on clay-loam soils ideal for Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay. Certified Sustainable by Sustainable Winegrowing Ontario, they employ organic and regenerative practices, ensuring every grape is estate-grown. Wines are vegan-certified, emphasizing terroir through minimal intervention: low-temperature ferments, neutral oak aging, and stainless steel for freshness. Standouts include bone-dry Rieslings with pithy lime, vibrant Gewürztraminers, and elegant reds like the Black Lion cuvée blending black cherry, spice, and firm tannins.
