Getting There

• Walking

  If you are near Parliament Hill, start by heading south on Wellington Street toward the Rideau Canal. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Bank Street. Turn left onto Bank Street and walk until you reach the Rideau Canal. The canal is visible from Bank Street, and you can walk along the pathway that runs beside it.

• Public Transit (OC Transpo Bus)

  From the Rideau Centre Shopping Mall, take bus number 1 (direction: Barrhaven). Get off at the stop called 'Canal at Daly Avenue.' From there, walk south for about 5 minutes, and you will find yourself at the Rideau Canal. There are clear pathways along the canal that you can follow.

• Biking

  If you have access to a bike, start at the ByWard Market area and head west on Rideau Street. Follow the bike lane until you reach Elgin Street. Turn left onto Elgin Street and continue until you reach the entrance of the Rideau Canal. There are bike racks available for you to secure your bike.

• Walking

  From the National Gallery of Canada, exit the gallery and head south on Sussex Drive. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Wellington Street. Cross Wellington Street and follow the pathway that leads directly to the Rideau Canal. It’s a pleasant walk with views of the canal.
