    Most travelers arrive at Sangha Lodge via a boat transfer from Libongo, a border town in Cameroon. This involves a two-day overland journey from Yaoundé, Cameroon, to Libongo. From Libongo, a pre-arranged boat will take you to Bayanga, the closest town to Sangha Lodge. The lodge is then a short distance from Bayanga.

Sangha Lodge, a safari legend, is located on the edge of the Central African Republic's Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve. Built on the high banks of the Sangha River, the lodge provides access to the renowned Dzanga Bai, known as the 'village of elephants'. This remote region of the Congo Basin allows you to explore the geographical center of Africa.The lodge features seven thatched en-suite bungalows strung along the elevated riverbank, offering rustic luxury and wonderful hospitality. A large, open lounge and dining area with tiered decks overlook the river, providing breathtaking views. The lodge offers fresh and flavorful meals, sundowners on the star deck, and access to one of Africa's last frontiers.Sangha Lodge provides a base for exploring the rainforests, with their elephants, bongos, and lowland gorillas. Forest walks, including the renowned Valley of the Giants and remote forest waterfalls, offer opportunities to discover the surroundings on foot. You can also observe forest elephants, track lowland gorillas, and visit a local Ba'aka village to learn about their culture and connection to the forest. Boat trips and kayaking on the Sangha and Yobe Rivers offer chances to observe the forest and its wildlife from the water.
