Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from the city of Temuco, which is the nearest major city. Take Route 5 (Carretera Panamericana) heading north. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit toward Victoria (Ruta 49). Continue on Ruta 49 for about 25 kilometers until you reach the town of Victoria. Once in Victoria, follow signs for Perquenco. Drive approximately 20 kilometers on Route 181 towards Perquenco. As you approach Perquenco, look for signs directing you to Cascada Chufquen. The waterfall is located about 10 kilometers from Perquenco. You may need a 4x4 vehicle for the last stretch of the road, depending on its condition, especially during rainy seasons.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start from the city of Temuco. Take a bus from the main terminal to Victoria; the journey takes about an hour. From Victoria, you will need to take a local bus or taxi to Perquenco. Buses to Perquenco may not run frequently, so check the schedule in advance. Once in Perquenco, you can either hire a taxi or find a local transport service to take you to Cascada Chufquen. It is advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand as it may vary. Ensure you have enough cash as smaller towns may not accept cards.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike to Cascada Chufquen after reaching Perquenco. The hike is roughly 10 kilometers and can be challenging, so wear appropriate footwear and bring enough water. Follow the local paths leading from Perquenco towards the waterfall, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery along the way. It is advisable to hike in groups for safety and to check the weather conditions beforehand.
