The Cordillera del Paine, also known as the Paine Massif, is a mountain group located within the Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. The park is situated 112 km (70 mi) north of Puerto Natales and 312 km (194 mi) north of Punta Arenas. This remarkable mountain range is a major attraction for tourists traveling to Chile, drawing over 250,000 visitors annually. The name 'Paine' comes from the Tehuelche (Aonikenk) language, meaning 'blue,' likely referring to the granite's bluish color when viewed from a distance.The Cordillera del Paine's geological history dates back approximately 12 million years.
