Public Transport

From the center of Coquimbo, take a local bus (micro) heading towards the coastal area. Check in advance which route gets you closest to Playa Peñuelas. Buses between Coquimbo and La Serena run frequently. The initial regulation tariff is $700 pesos (US$0.75) for intra-municipal journeys and $800 pesos (US$0.85) for inter-municipal journeys. These services also have senior citizen and student subsidies provided by the ministry, where rates will be 50% and 33% respectively.
