Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards the town of Puerto Varas, which is a popular gateway to Lake Llanquihue. From Puerto Varas, follow Route 225 south for approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) until you reach the lake's edge. You can easily find parking areas along the lakeshore for stunning views of Lake Llanquihue and the surrounding volcanoes, particularly Osorno Volcano.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take a bus from Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes and costs approximately 1,500 CLP (Chilean Pesos). Once in Puerto Varas, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the lakeshore, which is only a few kilometers away. Taxis in Puerto Varas are readily available and will cost around 5,000 CLP to reach the lake.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Puerto Varas. There are several rental shops in town. Cycling to Lake Llanquihue along the scenic Route 225 is a great way to experience the area. The ride is approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) and offers breathtaking views.
