Car
From the center of San Jose de Maipo, head east on Avenida Las Condes toward Ruta 5. Merge onto Ruta 5 (Pan-American Highway) and continue for about 15 km. Take the exit toward San Alfonso del Mar and follow the signs for El Morado National Park. The road will lead you up into the mountains. After approximately 10 km, you will reach the entrance of El Morado National Park, where you will need to pay an entrance fee of around CLP 3,000 (subject to change). Continue driving for about 5 more kilometers until you reach the parking area near the trailhead for the hike to the glacier.

Public Transportation
To reach El Morado from Santiago, take a bus from the Terminal San Borja (in Santiago) to San Jose de Maipo. Buses run approximately every 30 minutes and the fare is around CLP 1,500. Once in San Jose de Maipo, you will need to take a taxi or shared van (colectivo) to El Morado National Park. This may cost around CLP 5,000-10,000 per person. The taxi will take you directly to the park entrance where you will pay an entrance fee of approximately CLP 3,000. From the parking area, the hike to the hanging glacier begins.
