Car
If you are driving, start from the city center of Talca. Head south on Avenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins (Route 5) for about 15 kilometers. Follow the signs for Route 5 Sur towards San Javier. Continue on Route 5 for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the exit for the camino to Cerro La Virgen. Take this exit and follow the signs for the local roads leading to the trailhead. Park at the designated area and prepare for a short hike to the summit.
Public Transportation
To reach Cerro La Virgen using public transportation, take a bus from Talca to San Javier. Buses leave frequently from the Talca Terminal de Buses, and the ticket price is approximately CLP 3,000. Once in San Javier, you'll need to take a local taxi or rideshare to the trailhead of Cerro La Virgen, which could cost around CLP 6,000 to CLP 10,000 depending on the distance. The taxi ride should take about 20 minutes.
Hiking
After reaching the trailhead by car or taxi, prepare for a hike to the top of Cerro La Virgen. The hike is well-marked and generally takes about 1 to 2 hours, depending on your fitness level. Be sure to bring water, snacks, and wear appropriate footwear. The trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding area and culminates at the summit, where you can enjoy panoramic vistas.
